  • Community Development: Building Resilient Communities (VIC, Aus)
    The Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) was established in August 2007 to lead and support the development of liveable communities.  The Victorian Government is committed to delivering improvements in urban planning and development, particularly in the outer suburbs and regional areas where we are expecting strong growth.  DPCD is putting the needs of these growing communities front and centre.   • Evaluation: Australasian Evaluation Society (Aus)
    The Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) is the primary professional organisation in Australasia for people involved in evaluation including evaluation practitioners, managers, teachers and students of evaluation, and other interested individuals. It has almost 1000 members involved in all aspects of evaluation and performance measurement. Members meet regularly through Regional Groups centred in major cities in Australia and New Zealand. Professional development workshops are conducted throughout Australasia on a regular basis.
  • Evaluation: Narrative Action Evaluation in Health Promotion Research (VIC, Aus)

    Narrative evaluation integrated within an action research framework is an invaluable adjunct to the statistical evaluation methodologies used to measure health promotion program impacts and outcomes. In combination, these two differing health promotion evaluation perspectives provide stakeholders with varied forms of ‘evidence' about the whole of a health promotion program: the value of what is being done, why, how and its effects on population health.

    The Department of Health and Ageing has a diverse set of responsibilities, but throughout there is a common purpose, which is reflected in our Vision statement:

  • Government (NZ): Ministry of Health
    The Ministry of Health aims to ensure that the health and disability support system works for all New Zealanders. As principal advisor to the government on health and disability policy, we lead and support the sector to achieve better health for New Zealanders, including reduced inequalities, better participation and independence, trust and security.
  • Government (VIC, Aus): Department of Health

    The Victorian Department of Health's objective is to enhance and protect the health and wellbeing of all Victorians. We work with the community to provide better access to health, aged care and mental health and drug services. We do this through managing the public hospital system, developing health infrastructure in rural and metropolitan Victoria, pursuing opportunities for partnership with the primary care sector and other governments, public health interventions, and implementing major health initiatives such as the Victorian Cancer Action Plan. We also encourage Victorians to improve their health through preventative health initiatives and education programs.

    The Victorian Health Promotion Foundation, best known as VicHealth, works in partnership with organisations, communities and individuals to make health a central part of our daily lives.

  • Health Equity: Casey Foundation (USA)

    Marguerite Casey Foundation seeks to strengthen the voices of low-income families across the United States by engaging parents in efforts to improve the lives of their communities. The Foundation enhances the effectiveness and collective capacity of community-based organizations advocating for social change, and it is committed to connecting these organizations and their diverse constituencies within and across regions and disciplines for movement building.

  • Health Equity: Health Care Aotearoa (NZ)

    Health Care Aotearoa (HCA) is a Treaty of Waitangi based national network of community-driven and governed primary health care services. We promote accessible primary health care for all people.  We offer our members advocacy, education, management and peer support programmes.

  • Health Equity: Whānau Ora Health Impact Assessment Tool (NZ)
    The Whānau Ora Health Impact Assessment Tool is a formal approach used to predict the potential health effects of a policy on Māori and their whānau. It pays particular attention to Māori involvement in the policy development process and articulates the role of the wider health determinants in influencing health and well-being outcomes.
  • Health Promotion: Bangkok Charter (WHO)
    The Bangkok Charter identifies actions, commitments and pledges required to address the determinants of health in a globalized world through health promotion.
  • Health Promotion: Cancer Society of NZ - Health Promotion Action Plan 2009-10 (NZ)

    The Health Promotion Action Plan incorporates the agreed objectives of the Cancer Society of New Zealand (CSNZ) Strategic plan and reflects alignment with the Cancer Control Strategy (CCS) and the Cancer Control Action Plan (CCAP). To ensure congruity with all documents, health promotion work has been incorporated into the two relevant CCAP /CSNZ Strategic plan goals of:

    Goal 1: To reduce the incidence of cancer through primary prevention, and

    Goal 2: To ensure effective screening and early detection to reduce cancer incidence and mortality.

  • Health Promotion: Partnership Self-Assessment Tool (USA)

    This easy-to-use, reliable, web-based Tool gives partnerships an exciting new way to assess how well their collaborative process is working and to identify specific areas they can focus on to make the process work better. The Tool is being provided to partnerships at no charge by the Center for the Advancement of Collaborative Strategies in Health at The New York Academy of Medicine with funding from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

  • Health Promotion: VicHealth Partnerships Analysis Tool (VIC, Aus)
    Based on the evaluation of a range of initiatives funded through the Mental Health Promotion Plan, this resource provides a framework to assist organisations to develop a clearer understanding of the range of purposes of collaborations, reflect on the partnerships they have established and develop ways to strengthen new and existing partnerships.

  • Indigenous Health: Aboriginal Cultural Respect Framework SA Health (SA, Aus)
    The Aboriginal Cultural Respect Framework for SA Health is an overarching implementation plan designed to be read in conjunction with the SA Aboriginal Health Policy, the SA Health Statement of Reconciliation, the Aboriginal Health Impact Statement and the Aboriginal Workforce Reform and Development Strategy.
  • Indigenous Health: Australian Indigenous Health InfoNet (Aus)
    HealthInfoNet - 'one-stop info-shop' that aims to contribute to 'closing the gap' in health between Indigenous and other Australians by informing practice and policy in Indigenous health by making research and other knowledge readily accessible.
  • Indigenous Health: Koori Drug Info Website (VIC, Aus)

    In 2003, the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), consulted with a number of Indigenous health workers to identify factors that prevented access to drug information from the Australian Drug Foundations' DrugInfo Clearinghouse services.  With funding from the Premier's Drug Prevention Council, a Koori project worker was employed at the ADF in January 2004 to implement the recommendations arising from the consultation exercise. This current phase of the project aimed to build capacity among Indigenous communities by increasing the relevance and accessibility of DrugInfo Clearinghouse information and services.

  • Indigenous Health: Public Health Bush Book (NT, Aus)
    The Northern Territory Public Health Bush Book is a valuable resource in two volumes. Written by people who have worked in and with remote community health care teams, it is specifically designed for those who work in remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.
  • Indigenous Health: Victorian Aboriginal Childcare Agency Collaborative (VIC, Aus)

    VACCA is a statewide Aboriginal community controlled and operated service established by our community in 1977. VACCA was given the responsibility by our community to promote, advocate and achieve positive changes in the lives of Aboriginal children, young people, their families and their community premised on human rights, self determination, cultural respect and safety.

  • Public Health: Effective Public Health Practice Project (Canada)
    The Effective Public Health Practice Project (EPHPP) is a key initiative of the Public Health Research, Education and Development Program (PHRED). It is jointly funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the City of Hamilton Public Health Services.
  • Public Health: Public Health Association of Australia (Aus)
    In Australia, the Public Health Association of Australia Inc (PHAA) provides a forum for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and information on public health. The Association is also involved in advocacy for public health policy, development, research and training.
  • Public Health: Public Health Division (NSW, Aus)
    The Public Health Division seeks to improve the health and well-being of people in New South Wales through approaches which focus on whole populations.  We work with communities and organisations to create circumstances that promote and protect health, and prevent injury, ill health, and disease.
  • Public Health: Public Health Information Development Unit (Aus)

    The Public Health Information Development Unit (PHIDU), located at The University of Adelaide, was established in 1999 to assist in the development of public health data, data systems and indicators.

    We are committed to the development of an integrated health information system in Australia that can provide information on a broad range of health determinants across the life course.  A major emphasis is on the development and publication of small area statistics for monitoring inequality in health and wellbeing.

  • Public Health: World Federation of Public Health Associations

    The World Federation of Public Health Associations is an international, nongovernmental, multi-professional and civil society organization bringing together public health professionals interested and active in safeguarding and promoting the public's health through professional exchange, collaboration, and action. Founded in 1967, it is the only worldwide professional society representing and serving the broad area of public health, as distinct from single disciplines or occupations. The Federations' members are national and regional public health associations, as well as regional associations of schools of public health presently numbering more than 70.

  • Quality: EQUIHP (Netherlands)

    As an instrument for quality assurance, EQUIHP can be used by all health promotion practitioners as well as people involved in the implementation of health promotion interventions (managers of health promotion institutes, researchers, policy makers and funding organisations). The instrument can be used throughout the process of planning, implementing and evaluating a health promotion project.

  • Quality: Institute for Healthy Communities (QLD, Aus)

    IHCA Ltd is an organisation providing best practice services and advice and third party quality reviews to assist services within the health and community sectors to achieve optimum service delivery.  On this site you will find information about our products and services, which include the Quality Improvement Council (QIC) review program and the Western Australian Alcohol and Other Drug Sector (WANADA) quality framework.

  • Quality: Quality Management Services (Aus)
    Quality Management Services  is an established, nationwide, independent, not-for-profit provider of quality services. Our uniquely skilled, collaborative and supportive approach sustains quality outcomes for the clients, communities and staff of health and community service providers.
  • Quality: Victorian Quality Council (VIC)
    The VQC Consumer Leadership Development Pilot Program involving 18 participants commenced on February 6 and ran until October 2008. An initial three day workshop introduced the key concepts tools and resources that would be used throughout the program.

    Health Issues Centre is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that began in 1985 to promote equity and consumer perspectives in the Australian health system. Our mission is to improve the health outcomes for Australians, especially those who are disadvantaged.
  • Reference: Partnerships for Health (USA)
    Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) is a nonprofit organization that promotes health (broadly defined) through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions. Founded in 1996, we are a growing network of over 1,800 communities and campuses across North America and increasingly the world that are collaborating to promote health through service-learning, community-based participatory research, broad-based coalitions and other partnership strategies. These partnerships are powerful tools for improving higher education, civic engagement and the overall health of communities.

    dgCommunities is a collaborative space for professionals working to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development worldwide. Share knowledge, tools, contacts, and more with members in 200 countries. Each online community is centered on specific themes and guided by experts in the field.   • Research: Action Learning (Aus)

    This is a resource file which supports the regular public program "areol" (action research and evaluation on line) offered twice a year beginning in mid-February and mid-July.

  • Research: Caledon Institute (Canada)

    Social policy think tank located in Ontario, Canada. Undertakes rigorous, high-quality research and analysis; seeks to inform and influence public opinion and to foster public discussion on poverty and social policy; develops and promotes concrete, practicable proposals for the reform of social programs at all levels of government and of social benefits provided by employers and the voluntary sector community capacity-building, taxation, social spending, employment development services, social services, disability supports and health.

    The international Campbell Collaboration (C2) is a non-profit organisation that aims to help people make well-informed decisions about the effects of interventions in the social, behavioral and educational arenas.

  • Research: Centre for Health Promotion (Canada)

    The Centre for Health Promotion (Dalla Lana School of Public Health , University of Toronto), established in 1989, is a community-academic partnership. The Centre is committed to excellence in education, evaluation and research. In a multi-disciplinary, collaborative context it activates, develops and evaluates innovative health promotion approaches in Canada and abroad. The Centre is an active, high quality, internationally recognized leader in health promotion.

  • Research: Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (UK)

    The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination is a department of the University of York and is part of the National Institute for Health Research.
    CRD undertakes high quality systematic reviews that evaluate the effects of health and social care interventions and the delivery and organisation of health care.

  • Research: CO-OPS Collaboration (Aus)

    The CO-OPS Collaboration, also known as Collaboration of Community-based Obesity Prevention Sites, is a project funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing which aims to support community-based obesity prevention initiatives through a collaborative approach to promoting best practice, knowledge translation and by providing networking, support and advice.

  • Research: Community Profiles (VIC, Aus)

    The Victorian Office of Multi Cultural Affairs (VMC) is an independent statutory authority that was originally established in 1983 under the name of the Victorian Ethnic Affairs Commission. Since then, the Commission has provided independent advice to the Victorian Government to inform the development of legislative and policy frameworks as well as the delivery of services to our culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse society.

    The VMC is the main link between Victoria’s culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and the Government, conducting more than 50 community consultations each year.

  • Research: Dept of Public Health Sciences, Karolinska Institute (Sweden)
    At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and consultancies based on the public health concept. The research focuses on health problems in the population and alleviation through community-based prevention and development of appropriate health care systems.
  • Research: Health Evidence Bulletins (Wales)

    A new initiative in the field of health information since they act as signposts to the best current evidence across a broad range of evidence types and subject areas. Where information from randomised controlled trials is available it is included. However, many health issues do not lend themselves easily to investigation, or have not yet been studied, by this method. In these cases, high quality evidence has been sought from observational and other studies.

  • Research: HealthPromis (UK)

    HealthPromis is the national health promotion database for England. The database references the extensive collection of international, national and local health promotion information in HPIC. This includes government publications, surveys, reference documents, research reports, books, journal articles, and resources (videos, teaching material, software, cassettes, and games). HealthPromis is continually updated so the information remains topical and current.

  • Research: Informed Health Online (Germany)
    IQWiG was established by legislation as part of Germany's 2003 health reform. It is an independent, non-government and non-profit foundation that is intended to support evidence-based decision making in the German health care services. The Institute is funded through a levy on healthcare services and may also accept funding from the Federal Ministry of Health.
  • Research: MRC Social & Public Health Sciences Unit (UK)

    A merger of medical sociology and public health research units, their work includes evaluation of interventions aiming to improve public health and reduce social inequalities in health and attempts to influence policy and practice by communicating the results and implications of research to a wide range of audiences.

     

  • Research: National Health and Medical Research Council (Aus)

    The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is Australia's peak body for supporting health and medical research; for developing health advice for the Australian community, health professionals and governments; and for providing advice on ethical behaviour in health care and in the conduct of health and medical research.

  • Research: National Public Health Partnership (Aus)

    An historical record of the projects undertaken by the NPHP.

    As of 30 June 2006 the National Public Health Partnership (NPHP) was replaced with the Australian Health Protection Committee (AHPC) and the Australian Population Health Development Principal Committee (APHDPC), two Principal Committees of AHMAC.

  • Research: NZ History Online - Treaty of Waitangi (NZ)

    The Treaty of Waitangi section includes material originally found on www.treatyofwaitangi.govt.nz, a site developed by the Treaty Information Unit in the State Services Commission. Material from that site is now combined with other topics on www.nzhistory.net.nz to provide a range of features about the Treaty of Waitangi and Waitangi Day.

    An online resource for oral health promotion in Australia.

    The Clearing House builds oral health promotion capacity and fosters the development and implementation of effective prevention and oral health promotion strategies to improve the health of Australians.
  • Research: South Australian Community Health Research Unit (SA, Aus)
    The South Australian Community Health Research Unit (SACHRU) seeks to enhance health, wellbeing and equitable outcomes in South Australia by contributing to improving the quality of primary health care, health promotion and population health initiatives through research, evaluation and building the capacity of the workforce.
  • Research: TRIP - Turning Research into Practice Database (UK)

    The TRIP Database is a clinical search tool designed to allow health professionals to rapidly identify the highest quality clinical evidence for clinical practice.

    Amalgamates a number of separate providers of evidence-based material into this one database and has 15,000 links from 61 sources, including peer-reviewed journals as the BMJ, JAMA, NEMJ and others from the BMJ Publishing Group.
