The QIPPS philosophy

Our Mission Statement

To champion evidence-informed practice by providing a high quality planning and evaluation tool for organisations across Australia and New Zealand.

Origins of QIPPS

QIPPS was originally developed in 1999 by Mitchell Community Health Service (Victoria), and started out as a humble Filemaker Pro database. In 2001, Mitchell Community Health Service transferred ownership of QIPPS to the Victorian Community Health Association (VCHA), a not-for-profit peak body of Community Health Services in Victoria. During this tenure, QIPPS underwent a major transformation when it went 'online' in 2004. Since moving online, QIPPS has gone from strength to strength, evolving into a tool that allows genuine collaboration and provides a mechanism for capturing and searching the growing body of community-based initiatives in both Australia and New Zealand.

In 2008 QIPPS moved to Merri Community Health Services Limited (MCHS) and the QIPPS Team is now located with the MCHS Health Promotion and Research Team. MCHS is the third largest community health service in Victoria and has a strong commitment to evidence-informed health promotion and community development, as well as community-based research.

Ongoing Development

QIPPS is a dynamic, evolving tool and improvements are informed by user feedback.  In September 2010, a spellcheck module and 'prompt to save' feature were integrated as a direct result of user feedback.

A new look QIPPS website was launched in December 2010 that also included enhancements to the project template, an archive mechanism and a new quarterly project summary report for QIPPS Managers.

In 2011 we will develop a new version of QIPPS (Version 4) that will include significant enhancements to the application.  All subscribers will be invited to make suggestions and a Reference Group will be established to ensure that the next version of QIPPS meets the needs of our diverse subscriber base.

Our office is on the Traditional lands of the Wurundjeri People and we pay our respects to their Elders both past and present.
